We aren't sure exactly where the work within the wetland, for the utility crossing, is going to take place, so I told the engineer to include the entire area. The proposed wetland impacts for this project have still got me scratching my head. I've attached 2 pages to this e-mail. These include the proposed wetland narrative and the proposed wetland impact chart. These are the 2 updated pages that you recently sent me. I need an updated accurate number for: -permanent Wetland impact amount -Temporary wetland impact amount -Stream impacts -open water ditch impacts This should also include the proposed water line that will cause "temporary" impacts to wetlands. The temporary impacts will not have to be mitigated for. I need this information so I can determine if the proposed mitigation will be acceptable to offset the wetland loss. I've attached 2 pages to this e-mail. These include the proposed wetland narrative and the proposed wetland impact chart. These are the 2 updated pages that you recently sent me. I need an updated accurate number for: a) permanent Wetland impact amount b) -Temporary wetland impact amount c) -Stream impacts d) -open water ditch impacts This should also include the proposed water line that will cause "temporary" impacts to wetlands. The temporary impacts will not have to be mitigated for. I need this information so I can determine if the proposed mitigation will be acceptable to offset the wetland loss. In order to provide the information, you are requesting, Section D, of the PCN, needs to be revised. However, due to the fact that PCN was submitted electronically, revising it is not practicable. Therefore, the following table is intended to complete Section D and includes both tributaries and wetland proposed impacts : 2a. Site Name 2a1 Reason 2b. Impact type 2c. Type of W. 2e. Forested 2f. The Applicant intends to mitigate for 0.268 -acre of wetlands, at a 2:1 mitigation to impact ratio. I have requested the credit reservation letter, from the mitigation bank, and will forward upon receipt. It is SEGi's hope that the information submitted within and attached to this letter is sufficient to satisfy the USACE's RFAI. However, should you still have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly, at 910.228.1841. As always, thank you for your time and assistance with this project. GENERAL NOTES Adhere to the following items in the Construction of the force main and appurtenances unless noted: 1. Existing utiIitiesare located onplans approximately. Notify utilitylocating servicesas least 48 hours priorto commencing construction activity. Contractor responsible for verifying the exact location of these existing utilities. The cost to repai rthese faci I ities if damaged, shall bethe responsibility ofthe Contractor. Coordinate with utility owners as necessary. Costs associated are incidental. 2. Contractor shall contact the NC Department of Transportation prior to any work within NCDOT Right-of-way. The NCDOT District Engineer for this project is Ben Hughes, (910) 398-9100. 3. Temporarily remove minor items as required forthe installation ofthe utility. Minor items shall include, but not be limited to, existing signs, mail boxes, storm sewer pipes, shrubs (under 6 ft in height), and trees (under 3 inch in dia.). Reinstall items to their original condition. Include cost in the per foot ofthe cost ofthe force main. 4. Contractor shall verify the horizontal and vertical location and size of existing utilities a minimum of 300 feet in advance of laying activities. Notify the Engineer immediately if a potential conflict arises between the existing and proposed utilities, 5. Provide plastic identification tape for all new mains per specifications. Tape shall be buried continuously directly above the main an eighteen (18) inches below finished grade. In addition, tracer wire shall be used to mark all PVC pipe, per specification. The wire shall be affixed to the pipe and tied off on valves. 6. Provide positive uniform grade for the main towards air release valves in all cases. 7. Air release valves must beat high points along the main. The locations indicated on the drawings maybe adjusted to meet this requirement upon approval ofthe Engineer. Air release valves located within C/A portions of NCDOT roads shall be installed at RM/ lines (0' offset). 8. Provide concrete thrust blocks at fittings in addition to restrained joints, unless otherwise noted. 9. Installation ofthe force main shall be open cut unless otherwise noted on the plans. 10. Minimum vertical separation between natural gas main, gas service lines and water main shall be 2'-0". Contractor shall expose all natural gas mains and gas service line to a depth of 2'-0" below existing gas lines prior to installation of new force main. 11. As required by the NCDOT encroachment agreement, the Contractor shal survey the existing ditches in the areas to be affected by the util ity installation at a distance not to exceed 100 ft, to include grade breaks with tie-in to existing pipes. This survey shall be provided to NCDOT with corresponding benchmark documentation prior to commencement of any construction within NCDOT right-of-way. See Special Provisions #6 of NCDOT Encroachment Agreement. 12. Requirements set forth in NCDOT Encroachment Agreements must be met and supersede all other requirements. 13.
