General Project Narrative: The existing 146' triple-span bridge over Lanes Creek on SR 1929 (Philadelphia Church Rd) is being replaced with a 155' double-span bridge with a span arrangement of 1@55'
(Description of Minimization of Water (21" cored slab), 1@100' (39" box beam). The bridge will have 1.5:1 sloping abutments. The bridge will be superelevated at 2% with 10' travel lanes and 3'-11" shoulders, 27"-
Quality Impacts) 10" clear width and 30'-0" OTO width. The existing bridge structure will be removed. Overall drainage patterns will be maintained. There are roadside ditches that flow towards
the bridge on both sides of the structure. The proposed design will interfere with one of the existing ditches flow patterns. A proposed ditch will be used to maintain flow to the
bridge. On the begin side of the bridge, a traffic bearing grated drop inlet with double frame and grates (2GI) was placed on the right side of the roadway in the shoulder berm
gutter to pick up runoff from the bridge. Class-II rip rap abutment protection on both bridge abutments is also proposed to prevent future erosion and stream migration. Deck
drains are needed, so 5"x4" slots on 10' centers will be used for the 21" cored slab span and 8"x4" slots on 3' centers will be used for the 39" box beam span. Deck drains do not
discharge directly into creek. No dissipator pads were used because the Class-II rip rap will prevent erosion and dissipate flow.
