RE: Notification of Start of Study Activities for the Trinity Road Grade Separation Project, Wake
County, WBS No. 48150.1.1, STIP No. P-5734
Mr. Ridings,
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is starting the project development and
environmental studies for the proposed Trinity Road Grade Separation Project. The project
consists of the closure of the SR 1655 (Trinity Road) at-grade crossing with the North Carolina
Railroad (Crossing # 630657S) and the construction of a new bridge to replace the crossing.
Right of way acquisition is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2025 and construction is scheduled for
Fiscal Year 2028 in the Draft 2020 — 2029 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
We would appreciate any information you might have that would be helpful in evaluating
potential environmental impacts of the project. At this time, it is anticipated that a Federal
Categorical Exclusion (CE) will be prepared for this project. The project will likely require the
following permits: (USACE Section 404 permit and NCDWR Section 401 Water Quality
Certification).
Please respond by March 31St, 2019, so that your comments can be used in the selection of
alternatives to be studied for this project. A PDF of the study area map is attached for your
reference.
