Corey,
I hope you had a good weekend and thanks for providing the review and comments. Below in green
is my response to the comments:
1) Wet pond MDC 3 requires an additional 6" of storage to be added to the forebay and the
main pool for sediment storage. The 6" should be added after the wet pond has been
designed according to the other MDC (essentially this 6" should be left out of any other
calculations for average depth, forebay percentage, etc.)
a. Forebay has been lowered to elevation 969.00 and main pond to 967.00 to provide
a 1' of sediment storage. The grading, detail and forms have been revised to reflect
this change.
2) The calculations for the orifice size are incorrect. Using a 2" orifice will result in a drain time
less than 2 days.
a. Calculation used to compute orifice has been revised to use the one outlined in
NCDEQ BMP manual Q= Cd*A*(2*g*Ho)^0.5. Drawdown time has also been
adjusted to 2.5 days. These two revisions calculate an orifice size of 1.6". The
calculations, detail and forms have been revised to reflect this change.
I have uploaded the revised sheets and calculations and will be sending out two sets of hard copies
as well. Do you have a time frame as to when you will review the submittal so I can provide an
estimate to the developer?
Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks for your help!

Hi Edwin,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I reviewed the plans and I have two comments, which are
below:
1) Wet pond MDC 3 requires an additional 6" of storage to be added to the forebay and the
main pool for sediment storage. The 6" should be added after the wet pond has been
designed according to the other MDC (essentially this 6" should be left out of any other
calculations for average depth, forebay percentage, etc.)
2) The calculations for the orifice size are incorrect. Using a 2" orifice will result in a drain time
less than 2 days.
Let me know if you have questions. I'll need two hardcopies of any revised plan sheets and they
need to be uploaded electronically at:
