Aid No: Funding: X State Federal Federal X Yes No Permit USACE Permit(s : Type(s): ProiectDescrintion: Replace Bridge No. 113 on SR 1514 (Holdens Cross Road) over White Oak Swamp (no off-site detour s ecified in review request). SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW DESCRlPTIONOFREVIEWACTIVITlES. RESULTS, AND CONCLUSLONS: HPOWeb reviewed on 14 September 2017 and yielded no NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). Wilson County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax inforrnation indicated an APE of woodland and cultivated fields with several late-twentieth-century resources (viewed 14 September 2017). A circa-1925 house SE of the existing bridge is an unexceptional and altered example of its type. A cemetery is located on a large parcel to the NE of the existing bridge, at least 800 feet distant and beyond likely project impact. Constructed in 1940, Bridge No. 113 is not eligible for the National Register according to the NCDOT Historic Bridge Survey as it is neither aesthetically nor technologically significant. Google Maps "Street View" also illustrates the absence of critical architectural and landscape resources in the APE (viewed 14 September 2017). No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined. WHY THE A VAILABLE INFORMATION PROVIDES A RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABLY PREDICTlNG THAT THERE ARE NO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC ARCHlTECTURAL OR LANDSCAPE RESOURCES IN THEPROJECTAREA: APE extends 500 feet from either end of the existing bridge (E-W) and 100 feet to either side of the SR 1514 (Holdens Cross Road) centerline (N-S) to encompass proposed construction activities. The comprehensive county architectural survey (1981) and related publication (Kate onno, wiison County'sAchitecturalHeritage, [Raleigh]: North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, 1981), as well as later studies record no resources in the APE. County GIS and other graphics confirrn the absence of architectural and landscape resources in the APE. No National Register-listed properties are located in the APE. Should the design of the project change, please notify NCDOT Historic Architecture as additional review mav be necessarv.
