The North Carolina Division of Water Resources is in receipt of your self -reported bypass of partially
treated wastewater that occurred at the Taylorsville WWTP on February 14, 2019. This self -reported bypass
occurred in the piping from the digestor to the headworks of the facility. The volume of the bypass was reported
to be 7,500 gallons, of which 1,000 gallons reached Stirewalt Creek. This correspondence is being issued as a
Notice of Deficiency.
Remedial actions should have already been taken to correct this problem and prevent further occurrences
in the future. The Division received notification of the bypass within 24 hours as required by NPDES Permit No.
NCO026271 (Part II, Section C, (4) (b) (2). To prevent further action, carefully review this deficiency and address
the causes of non-compliance to prevent the recurrence of similar situations.
