On February 6, 2019, staff of the NC Division of Water Resources, conducted a compliance
inspection for the subject single-family irrigation system. The assistance of Rick Willett during
the inspection was appreciated. Attached is a copy of the inspection report.
On the day of the inspection, the septic tank filter was clogged, the pump to the sand filter lost
power during the inspection, there was a break in a pipe in the sand filter, there were no tablets in
the chlorinator and the high level alarm in the spray field dosing pump tank did not work.
The system was re-inspected on February 18. On the day of this inspection the system was in
compliance except that there were no tablets in the chlorinator. Please add tablets to the
chlorinator.
During the first inspection,you mentioned that the tablets were too big to fit in the chlorinator. As
your chlorinator looked to be a standard size, I wonder if you got Pool chlorine tablet which are
larger than wastewater chlorine tablets. According to DWR staff who inspected your brother's
system, he does have the correct tablets. I have also attached a list of local wastewater chlorine
suppliers with this letter. Please keep the chlorinator stocked with the correct chlorine tablets.
We also recommend removing the vegetation from the sand filter to prevent it from clogging with
roots.
