Subject: Kiernan Shoreline Stabilization
Hi Andrew,
Thank you for reaching out. I won't head into the field with you on this one. I rarely comment on shoreline
stabilization projects these days. On this one, my main concerns would be that they (1) be sure to do any
concrete application in the dry, allowing concrete to fully cure in the dry, (2) avoid doing any work where it is
not necessary to address erosion or future destabilization (e.g., the new wall portion of the project), (3) apply a
riprap apron at the base of stone wall to provide habitat complexity to any stone wall that is being
repairedibuilt, (4) maintain and supplement existing native vegetation, and (5) leave large woody debris in
place or move it temporarily and reokace it after stabilization work is complete.
