After reviewing the proposed design revisions to the island side of Roland Ave in the field on February 6th, three areas were identified that required additional work and authorization to provide positive drainage and stabilization. The locations and proposed work are described as follows: 1. Station 42+90 -Y1-LT — stormwater outfall by Hardees will require additional excavation and rip rap to acquire positive drainage. The additional proposed rip rap swale will impact 40 sq. ft of open water below the OHM. Total additional excavation and rip rap for this area is 120 sq. ft. Most of this area is already rip rapped, but the outlet must be lowered to provide positive drainage. 2. Station 40+10 -Y1-RT — stormwater outfall requires excavation of sediment that has accumulated over the years to restore positive drainage. The proposed excavation will impact 45 sq. ft. of 404 wetlands. Total area of excavation proposed at this site is 60 sq. ft. 3. Station 31+96 -Y1- With the removal of the old bridge on the island side, the bank has started eroding from vessel wakes due to the absence of protection from the old structure. NCDOT is proposing stabilize the bank along the entire width of the 100 ft R/W with Class II rip rap. The rip rap will be placed above the OHM as discussed in our field meeting. The old approach is going to be cut to an elevation of 5.00' and the bank will be sloped at 2:1. Attached are plan sheets showing the proposed impacts and the adjacent landowner notifications that have been signed and dated by the property owners adjacent to the proposed bank stabilization. NCDOT will continue to follow all other conditions of the CAMA permit and subsequent modifications as authorized. JAMES H.
