SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW
DESCRIPTIONOFREVIEWACTIVITIES, RESULTS, AND CONCLUSIONS: HPOWeb reviewed on 19
September 2018 and yielded one SL and no NR, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of
Potential Effects (APE). Johnston County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax
information indicated an APE of cultivated fields and woodland with residential and agricultural
resources dating from the 1930s-2000s (viewed 19 September 2018). The APE intersects the
large parcel on which the study-listed Ormond House (JT1250) is located with the qualifying
note "approximate site" on HPOWeb (the resource awarded SL status likely no longer exists).
Standing structures in evidence on the parcel are outside the APE and, like all others in the APE
pre-dating 1970, are unexceptional examples of their types.
No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined.
WHY THE AVAILABLE INFORMATION PROVIDESA RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABLYPREDICTING THAT
THERE ARE NO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC ARCHITECTURAL OR LANDSCAPE RESOURCES IN
THEPROJECTAREA: APE equates with that provided in the review request (see attached). The
comprehensive county architectural survey and update (1980; 2003-2004), as well as later
studies, record no resources in the APE apart from the SL property noted above. No National
Register-listed properties are located in the APE. Google Maps'�Street View" and other graphics
confirm the absence of architectural and landscape resources in the APE subject to GS 121-
12(a) or Section 106 compliance (viewed 19 September 2018).
Should the project limits or any aspect of its design change, please notify
NCDOT Historic Architecture as additional review may be necessary.
