DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Project purpose: Replacement of structurally deficient bridge.
Existing structure: Seven-span (1 @18.1', 1@16.8', 1@34.6', 1@17.2', 1@16.7', 1@17.3', 1@17.6') bridge
Proposed structure: Two-span (1 @ 100', 1@50') box beam bridge with 4'-0" caps.

Stream Permanent: 40 feet permanent stream impact associated with rip rap bank stabilization.
Is mitigation proposed for project? No, mitigation is not proposed for this project.
PROTECTED SPECIES INFORMATION
Northern lon� eared bat: BC of May Affect, Likely to Adversely Affect based on programmatic biological opinion with
the FHWA, NCDOT and USACE that allows for incidental take for NLEB for projects with a federal nexus in Division 5.

May Affect, Not Likely to Adversely Affect for this species.
Atlantic pi�toe (listed as Proposed Threatened): The Atlantic pigtoe was not collected during the Marcy 20, 2017 survey.
However, it has been identified at the bridge site in the recent past (based on NHP data explorer information indicating
EO Identification number 18739). The Department proposes at this time to follow prolect commitments outlined in
the mussel PBO (see above information). The proiect currently has a let date of June 27, 2019. Accordin�ly, we hope
that in-stream construction activities will be completed prior to the likely listin� of the Atlantic pi�toe as Threatened
(not to occur prior to October 11, 2019).
Michaux's sumac: Survey conducted in suitable habitat on July 17, 2017 did not result in any observations of this plant.
A BC of No Effect is provided for Michaux's sumac.
CULTURAL RESOURCES INFORMATION
Historic Architecture:
Historic Architecture Survey Required Form dated February 20, 2015 indicates presence of National Register listed
property within APE. This is the Speed Farm (FK285). Survey was required.
Historic Architecture and Landscapes Effects Form dated May 29/30, 2018 indicates No Adverse Effect from the project.
Archaeology: No Archaeological Survey Required Form dated February 23, 2015
