PSNC M-64 Natural Gas Pipeline — Phase II B
From Just South of the Mount Vernon -Ruth Elementary School near the Intersection of Hudlow
Road and US 64, North along Hudlow Road to US 221, US 221 to Mudcut Road, Mudcut Road to
Old US 221, Old US 221 to US 221 to I-40 (Exit 85) near Marion
Rutherford and McDowell Counties
Potential Percussive Activities
The installation of the proposed 12 -inch steel natural gas transmission pipeline has the potential to
generate some percussive activities in the form of blasting, jackhammering and horizontal directional
drilling (HDD). Some geotechnical information was obtained along the pipeline corridor in areas where
horizontal directional drilling (HDD) will take place; however, the entire pipeline corridor was not
surveyed. Blasting and jackhammering may be required, if bedrock is encountered during the trenching
process.
There should be "no affect" on NLEB hibernacula since there are no red RUC's in or near the project
area. The nearest red HUC is approximately 16 miles to the west of the project area near Lake Lure and
approximately 6 miles to the North Fork Catawba River Watershed on the north end of the project near
Marion (see attached USFWS maps).
