SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW
DESCRIPTIONOFREVIEWACTIVITIES. RESULTS, AND CONCLUSIONS: HPOWeb reviewed on 16 December
2016 and yielded no NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). Alamance
County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicated a predominantly wooded
APE with one circa-1950 residential resource, an unexceptional example of its type (viewed 16 December
2016). Bridge No. 164, built in 1949, is not eligible for the National Register according to the NCDOT
Historic Bridge Survey as it is not representative of any distinctive engineering or aesthetic type. Google
Maps ��Street View" confirmed the absence of critical architectural and landscape resources in the APE
(viewed 16 December 2016). The project is reviewed under both GS 121-12(a) and Section 106.
No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined.
WHY THE A VAILABLE INFORMATION PROVIDES A RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABLY PREDICTING THAT
THERE ARE NO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC ARCHITECTDRAL OR LANDSCAPE RESDURCES IN
THEPROJECTAREA: APE extends 600 feet to either end of the existing bridge (N-S) and 100 feet to
either side of the SR 1113 (Kimesville Road) centerline (E-W) to encompass proposed construction.
Comprehensive historic architectural surveys and survey updates of Alamance County (1978-9; 1989-90;
2001-2), later architectural studies, and county GIS/tax materials and other visuals illustrate the absence
of significant architectural and landscape resources in the APE (cari �ounsbury, AlamanceCounty.•Architectural
Heritage ([Graham, NC?: Alamance County Historical Properties Commission, 1980)). No National Register-listed
properties are located within the APE.

as additional review mav be necessarv.
