SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW
Description of review activities, results, an�l conclusions:
Review of HPO quad maps, HPO GIS information, historic designations roster, and indexes was
undertaken on June 6, 2014. Based on this review, there are no existing NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS
properties in the Area of Potential Effects, which is 300' from each end of the bridge and 75' from the
centerline each way. South of the bridge are ruins from what appear to be a house on google street view.
Directly south of the ruins is a c. 1945 frame house based on Watauga County GIS/Tax Records, which is
unremarkable and not eligible for National Register listing (7576 Meat Camp Road). Northwest of the
bridge is a c. 1945 frame house (7664 Meat Camp Road). This property will not be affected as the house
and related outbuildings are over 375' northwest of the bridge. In addition, the house has received
numerous additions over the years based on tax parcel records that compromise its integrity. Bridge No.
83 is not eligible for National Register listing. There are no National Register listed or eligible properties
and no survey is required. If design plans change, additional review will be required.

HPO quad maps and GIS information recording NR, SL, LD, DE, and SS properties for the Watauga
County survey, Watauga County GIS/Tax information, and Google Maps are considered valid for the
purposes of determining the likelihood of historic resources being present. There are no National Register
listed or eligible properties within the APE and no survey is reQuired.
