The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting a NW 14 permit for impacts to 404
jurisdictional wetlands resulting from construction of a proposed roundabout on SR 1336 (Harvey Point
Rd) in Perquimans County. There will be 0.226 acres of wetland impacts for mechanized clearing of a sight
distance and 0.0295 acres of wetland impacts for additional roadway fill. NCDOT is requesting EEP
provide mitigation for 0.2555 acres.
Included with this letter are the PCN form, vicinity map, permit drawings, and aerial photos. If

To construct a roundabout at the interseciton of SR 1336 (Harvey Pt Rd) & SR 1433 (Goose Nest Ln) in order to facilitate
large trucks turning around.
3e. Describe the overall project in detail, including the type of equipment to be used:
To construct a 150' diameter roundabout at the intersecion of SR 1336 & SR 1433. Additional mechanized clearing will
take place for sight distances and a portion of the road. A shallow ditch will be constructed through a portion of the
impacted wetlands on the west side of the project. The ditch will be no deeper than 1' through the wetland areas. Heavy
equipment that will be used will be an excavator, backhoe, and dump trucks.

Clearing limits were minimized to the least possible based on the minimum sight distance needed. The turning radius for
the roundabout was also minimized based on the minimum amount needed for tractor trailer traffic.
