RE: Letter of Refinement, CAMA Major Development Permit No. 101-09, Pembroke Creek. Bridge #5,
Chowan County.
Dear Mrs. Barnes:
This letter is in response to the N.C. Department of Transportation's (NCDOT's) letter dated 7/17/09
requesting a refinement of CAMA Major Permit No. 101-09. NCDOT is requesting to relocate the
directionally bored power line from the north side of the bridge to the south side of the bridge, All other
utilities are to be placed as shown in the original permit application.

Please be advised that through this Letter of Refinement, The Division of Coastal Management (DCM)
conveys its determination that the above referenced request is consistent with existing State rules and
regulations and is in keeping with the original purpose and intent of CAMA Permit No. 101-09 with the
following conditions:
1. This Letter of Refinement does not eliminate the need to obtain any additional state, federal
or local permits, approvals or authorizations that may be required.
2. This Letter of Refinement shall be attached to the original of Permit No. 101-09, which was
issued on 7/14/09, and copies of both documents shall be readily available on site when a
Division representative inspects the project for compliance.
3. All conditions and stipulations of the active permit remain in force under this Letter of
Refinement unless altered herein.
