This project is to replace an existing bottomless culvert that has failed. The failed culvert is located on an un-named tributary to Bear Wallow Creek (C-Trout). This work is located within a conservation easement which is part of the "Gorges" residential subdivision. The failed culvert is located beneath the back private access road. The new/replacement culvert is to be a 20 LF corrugated metal pipe (cmp). The existing bottomless culvert is 48 LF in length. There will be 28 LF of streambank restoration. I have talked with Ms. Linda Wiggs of your office and she has indicated that a 401 Permit is not necessary. This application is provided to you for information only. A revision to the Erosion Control Plan for the project has been submitted to the Asheville Regional Office Land Quality Section. By copy of this letter, a 404 Permit is hereby requested from the US Army Corps of Engineers. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
