HFPO Dimer Acid Fluoride (DAF) CAS No. 2062-98-8 Perfluoro-2-proproxy Propionyl Fluoride - C3F70CF(CF3)COF DAF, a feedstock for the PMDF polymerization initiator, is only vented as a maintenance emission when a ton cylinder of DAF is switched. PMDF typically changes a cylinder once every 4 months. The liquid DAF in the cylinder connection line is blown back into the cylinder, and the line is repeatedly pressurized and vented down before line breaks are performed. It is conservatively estimated that as much as I lb. of DAY may be emitted from this Y2" tubing line as part of the decontamination step. The 1 lb. DAF emission is evenly split across the 4 months for emissions reporting, meaning it is assumed that each month has 0.25 lb. of DAF, which rounds to 0.3 lb. DAF per month. Example Monthly Calculation: Data from January 2004 Vented DAF = 0.3 lb. DAF/month VOC Emissions = 0.3 VOC/month HF Potential: Each mole of DAF (MW = 332) can generate I mole of HF (MW = 20). I lb. DAF 1 mole DAF 20 lb. HF 1 mole HF = 0.06 lb. HF 332 lb. DAF mole HF 1 mole DAF Therefore, each I lb. of DAF can generate 0.06 lb. of HF. ! HF Equivalent Emissions = 0.3 lb DAF month X 0.06 lb HF •, 0.02 lb. HF month DEQ-CFW 00088094
