Dupont Company - Fayetteville Works (0900009) is a chemical manufacturing facility located in Bladen
County. The Plant consists of five individual manufacturing processes: Butacite® Process Area,
Nafion® Process Area, Fluoroproducts Polymer Manufacturing Development Facility (PMDF/Teflon),
Ammonium Perfluorooctanate (APFO) Manufacturing Facility, and SentryGlas® Plus Manufacturing
Facility. A sixth manufacturing process, Polyvinyl Fluoride Polymer Manufacturing Facility, is currently
under construction. The facility is subject to NESHAP Subparts KK, Printing and Publishing Industry,
and EEEE, Organic Liquids Distribution, as well as the upcoming Subpart FFFF, Miscellaneous Organic
NESHAP. The facility has two permanent boilers as well as one temporary boiler, which is transient and
comes on and off site as needed.
Purpose
DuPont Company — Fayetteville Works has submitted an air permit application for modification to (1)
install a wet scrubber on the building exhaust at the APFO Manufacturing Facility and (2) add a
Tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) / carbon dioxide (CO2) Separation Process. The TFE/CO2 separation process
will replace the TFE/HCl separation process (ID No. NS-L) once the process is fully operational.
