Upon review of your request for Water Quality Certification
to place fill material in less than one acre of wetlands for
turkey houses located at SR 1845 in Sampson County, we have
determined that the proposed fill can be covered by General Water
Quality Certification No. 2671 issued January 21, 1992. A.copy
of the General Certification is attached. This Certification may
be used in qualifying for coverage under Corps of Engineers'
Nationwide Permit No. 26.

Sampson County
Project No. 92081 involves the placement of a minor amount of fill in an
area of wetlands adjacent to a new turkey house. Mr. Hudson will construct
the actual house in an area of PC farmland. Due to minimum separation
requirements, a 500-foot buffer must be maintained between the turkey house
and any habitable dwelling. In order to maintain this separation, approxi-
mately 1/4 acre of wetland will be impacted in order to provide loading
facilities at the south end of the house. No significant wetland values are
associated with this site.
Project No. 91833 involves the construction of a private access road
across an area of wetlands in order to connect an upland area to an existing
roadway. Mr. Swain indicates that this project, which is currently on hold,
will involve a 30-foot road approximately 300 foot long, or 9,000 sq. feet.
Mr. Swain implies that the entire project will likely be scrapped, although he
does wish to obtain the appropriate permits should the project materialize.
No significant wetland values are known to exist at this site.
Considering the minimal areas involved in both of the above projects and
the relatively low wetland values associated with each, it is the recommenda-
tion of this office that the appropriate certifications be granted.
