From: Kritzer, Jamie Sent: Friday, September 15,2O172:12PM To: Talley, NoeUeS aokey [hris ; Holman, Sheila Scott, Subject: Testing statement The state departments of Environmental Quality and Health and Human Services on Friday received preliminary data from Chemours of water quality testing the company conducted for the presence of GenX in private wells near their Fayetteville Works facility. The data from 21 private household wells, which has not yet been through the Quality Assurance/Quality Control process or validated by toxicologists, shows nine private wells with no detections of GenX, six others with detections below the state public health goal and six above the state's public health goal for GenX. DHHS established a provisional public health goal for GenXofl4Oparts per trillion. Upon learning of the preliminary data Friday, DEQ and DHHS officials requested that Chemours immediately provide bottled water to the residents living at the six homes with wells where the preliminary detections for GenXwere above the state'spublic health goal. We decided to take this action out of an abundance of caution today rather than wait until the data had been validated. This ensures that residents with affected wells have an alternative source of water until more information is obtained (rather than "can bedeve|oped")and shared with homeowners. This is the first phase of the company's testing of private wells near the facility. The state has also started sampling private wells inthe areas nearest the [hemuuofacility and expects results inthe coming weeks. Jamie Kritzer Co-it,imwiic-?tio-is DirectA N.C.
