Latest test results show GenX levels remain below state health goal
RALK0GH— Concentrations ofGeoXinfinished drinking water along the Cape Fear River remain well below the etato`o
health goal, according to the latest test results released today.
The results reflect conditions in the Cape Fear River for the sixth and seventh weeks of sampling, which were the weeks
ofJuly 3land Aug.7. Water collected from the Cape Fear was analyzedat an Environmental Protection Agency lab in
the Research Triangle Park.
All test results for finished drinking water inthis round of sampling remained well below the |40parts per trillion health

The state DRObegan investigating the presence of(]on]{inthe Cape Fear River onJune |9.Thatongoing investigation
along with pressure from residents and local officials prompted Chomnur,the company manufacturing the unregulated
chemical, to stop discharging GenX into the Cape Fear.
State water quality offiuu|oplan tocontinue water samplinsz and analysis u1these sites for the foreseeable future. Sixteen
monitoringwells were recently added inthe sampling plan toinvestigate groundwater conditions a1the Chemours facility

The state will make the results of the groundwater tests at the Chemours facility public when they are available. An
