Governor Cooper met with local and state environmental officials inWilmington 0uannounce water
quality action items for the state of North Carolina. In his plan, Governor Cooper requested a public
health assessment by the CDC to review any long-term health effects and directed the SBI to assess
whether criminal investigation is warranted. In addition, Governor Cooper announced that the state
will deny Chomouns'permit application torelease GenX.
"Sometimes, it's easy to take water for granted. lassure you, ldo not. The first priority of my
administration is0odo everything in our power to make sure that drinking water is protected," said
