We have a story up now with some comments local officials have already made that should be indicative of the likely tone of the press conference and then update it as the day goes on, but I just wanted to reach out to your office for answers to several questions or to see if the Governor is available for a quick call. My questions would include: • What actions has the Governor taken to pursue information about GenX or ensure the safety of drinking water in the Greater Wilmington area? • In one comment, New Hanover County Chair Woody White said the Governor and Attorney General have more power to get hard questions about GenX answered because of the standing of their office. Does the Governor agree with this characterization? If so, how has he used the power of the office to answer some of the outstanding questions regarding GenX? • How often does the Governor receive updates about the ongoing DEQ and DHHS investigations? • Does the Governor have any imminent plans to visit Wilmington or to publicly address the GenX investigation? • Has the Governor's stance on or understanding of GenX and its potential impact on public health changed at all as we have learned more (i.e. Chemours discharging since 1980, the revisions to the advisory level of GenX, Chemours stopping further discharges the company was previously unaware of)? If so, how? • Have the governor or his staff had any discussions with officials in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties or the City of Wilmington regarding GenX? If so, how would he or staff characterize those conversations? If not, why not? Thanks, This message may contain confidential and/or privileged information.
