Durham County
Upon review of your request for Water Quality Certification
to place fill material in wetlands adjacent to Crooked Creek, we
have determined that the proposed fill can be covered by General
Water Quality Certification.No. 2176 issued November 4, 1987. A
copy of the General.Certification is attached. This
Certification may be used in qualifying for coverage under Corps
of Engineers' Nationwide Permit No. 26.

As per our telephone conversation today I am writing to request that
the proposed fill activity on land owned by the City of Durham
associated with the development of a city park on that land be
included for general certification for fill above the headwaters.
The wetland area is along a drainage channel that flows into Crooked
Creek. The wetland area to be filled is less than 0.5 acres in size.
The filling of the wetland is necessary to allow the development of
the site as a city park. The specific area will be used for the
construction of a baseball/softball field.
I am enclosing a vicinity map and a development plan of the park
showing the area in question.
