Katie,
Thank you for your comments. DMS is aware that the site must still be replanted in areas of low stem density. As stated in the
monitoring report, because of contractual conflicts with our original planting contractor, we were not able to treat the invasive
species or perform the supplemental planting to bring the site back into compliance. The report also stated that DMS is
seeking other contractual means to supplementary plant the site to address the low stem count and treat invasive vegetation
species. It is anticipated that a contract will be in place to provide the necessary invasive treatment and replanting effort such
that the replanting effort will be done in the 2018/2019 dormant season.

Subject: McDaniel Farm Year 2 Report Review
To whom it may concern:
DWR has reviewed the Year 2 Monitoring Report for the McDaniel Mitigation Site and has provided notes and
comments below pertaining to the site:
1. Due to contracting issues, DMS has not provided supplemental planting or invasive species treatment
as determined necessary in Year 1.
2. Report indicated stem density is still poor for planted stems and that mainly sweet gums and pines are
the main volunteers.
3. No issues with the fencing was noted.
4. DMS is still required to replant parts of this site where low density areas are noted. DMS is still
required to treat invasive species to the maximum extent practical. DWR recommends DMS consider
planting with larger stock (1 gallon or larger) where feasible in areas inundated with heavy
invasives. Larger stock could better compete with invasives in some cases. It is requested that DMS
provide remedial efforts by Fall 2018.
Thank you for submitting the Year 4 Monitoring Report.
