PROJECT-DESCRIPTION The project site is 1-ocated on North Topsail Beach, approximately 3 miles north of the junction of highway 50 and Secondary Road 210, off Secondary 210. Along a (no name) canal- leading into the AIWW in Onslow County. The proposed project is to be located within a subdivision known as Portofino Subdivision. The upland tract consists of approximately 17.05 wooded acres. The common area has been designated at the northeast corner of the property. The shoreline is vegetated with broad expanse of Spartina. alter.n_i_flora marsh. Salicornia and Juncus. The adjacent waters are classified as SA and are open to the taking of shellfish. The system is a designated primary nursery area by the marine Fisheries Division. The applicant proposes a 6' wide pier beginning on a high ground portion of the common area, extending over the large expanse of marsh for approximately 276'. The pier_ will terminate in a L shape at the canal. to accommodate docking. This portion of the pier over the water will measure approximately 6' x 85. Also proposed is a covered gazebo with open sides measuring approximately 6' per side (tota=l of 6 sides) for a total of 1.74 square feet. The project meets the 15' protecting line setback, as well as the 1/3 rule. The length of the pier is necessary in order to cross the large expense of marsh and reach open water. No docks or mooring pilings are associated with the project. 10. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS If the project is constructed as proposed no long term significant impacts are anticipated.
