PROJECT SUMMARY: The Town of Manteo proposes to construct a 175' x 8' pier with a 30' x 10' ramp and three dolphin clusters to moor the Viking Sun cruise boat adjacent their waterfront park, Manteo, Dare County. Town of Manteo BIO REPORT The Town of Manteo has developed its waterfront along Shallowbag Bay into a public waterfront park. CAMA permit 0 has authorize well as t he original pier boardwalk and construction. extensions, as we Currently a 10' w a k boardwalk w de along h 2501lnl ng approximately park. the waterfront "sewer pier" extends into Shallowbag Bay. The Town of Manteo proposes to construct an 8' wide by 175' long pier with a 30' long by 10' wide loading ramp extending into Shallowbag Bay from the base of its "sewer pier." TThre ep der pand clusters are proposed adjacent the loading ramp. dolphin clusters will allow the "Viking Sun" cruise boat to moor and load/unload passengers from the Manteo waterfront. The pier is planned so that the "Viking Sun" can enter/exit and moor in the existing channel dredged for the Elizabeth I water toric and vessel. Lines are planned for sewer, electrical service beneath the pier to service the "Viking Sun." ANTICIPATED IMPACTS Some turbidity will result from thetermed construction of the pier, but it should be localized and CAMA REVIEW Appropriate water uses are allowed in estuarine waters classified as conservation in the 1986 Manteo Land Use Plan.
