The General Certification for boat ramp construction covers this expansion (WQC# 1431 issued October 14, 1980). We do not have any objection to the project. cc: Jim Mulligan Poau&m Prevaklon Pays P.O. W J FROM: Larry Eastman.;? 0 DCM--Raleigh r-'I SUBJECT: Minor Modification Request--CAMA Permit X1`243-88, Plantation Harbor Craven County DATE: September 19, 1990 The permittee, Jerry A. Jackson, request to modify Permit #243-88 issued to Plantation Harbor in January of 1990. Mr. Jackson would like to extend the landward length of the existing pier to create a 75' long x 6' wide walkway allowing foot traffic to cross '404' wetlands between the existing parking lot and the creek. In addition, Mr. Jackson proposes to increase the width of the concrete boat ramp by 4. The 10' wide concrete ramp would be expanded to 14'. The new width will displace an area of restored marsh grass measuring 4' wide x-10' long. The area of marsh is dominated by giant cordgrass and black needlerush which was involved in a fill violation associated with the original construction of the concrete ramp in the spring of 1990. The quality of the existing concrete ramp is poor, and Mr. Jackson desires to completely remove the ramp and reconstruct the new 14' ramp in its place. In Clubfoot Creek, the expanded width will displace 80 sq. ft. of bottomland devoid of any shellfish resources or SAVs. _ Please submit comments on the proposed modification by October 3, 1990. If you have any questions, call me at (919) 733-2293.
