Upon review of your request for Water Quality
Certification to place fill material in an unnamed tributary
to Horsepen Creek, we have determined that the proposed fill
can be covered by General Water Quality Certification No.
2176 issued November 4, 1987. A copy of the General
Certification is attached. This Certification may be used
in qualifying for coverage under Corps of Engineers'
Nationwide Permit No. 26.

RE: Application for Section 401, Water Quality Certification
Dear Mr. Mills:
On March 1, 1989, I met with Dave Lekson, of the Army Corps of
Engineers concerning our plans to fill and pipe a section of an
unnamed tributary of Horsepen Creek near Greensboro, North
Carolina. The aforementioned tributary runs through a portion of
Oak Ridge Meadows Subdivision section 4, Phase I.
Dave indicated that the only wetlands area to be filled is the
stream channel itself and that nationwide permit No. 26 would be
required for authorization to fill less than 1 acre of wetlands.
The length of the area to be filled is +660' and the width of the
stream channel is + 2.51. The total wetlands area to be filled
is ± 1650 sq. ft.
NWP #26 was issued for this project on March 10, 1989 by Charles
Hollis of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Enclosed herein is
an application for a Section 401 Water Quality Certification.
