PROJECT SUMMARY: The pipes with conductivity meter five six-inch diameter PVC its confluence with Goose Creek in Beaufort County, North Carolina. U.S. Geological Survey Project Proposal The applicant proposes to place five conductivity meters in Beaufort County in Campbell Creek between the NC 33 Bridge (where one existing meter is located) and the confluence of Campbell Creek with Goose Creek. This is a project of the Albemarle-Pamlico Estuarine Study. The five proposed conductivity meters are to be spaced equal distances apart and are to be located near the middle of Campbell Creek at all five locations. Four meters will be installed in the inland waters of Campbell Creek and one in estuarine or commercial waters as designated in the NC Division of Marine Fisheries regulations. The conductivity meters are to be placed in six inch diameter, fourteen foot long PVC pipes with the pipe to extend approximately 4' above normal water level. The average water depth for the pipes' placement is six feet. Navigation safety re- flectors are to be affixed to the five pipes. The applicant proposes to jet the pipes in using a pressure pump. There are no objections to the project as proposed based upon CAMA regulations, however, it is very important that the reflector be affixed to the pipe so the pipes can be easily seen by traditional navigation.
