PROJECT SUMMARY: The applicant proposes to construct a 100' nine (9) slip private dock on Bennets Creek, near Mesic, Pamlico Co. FIELD INVESTIGATION REPORT - RONALD M. ONUFER, PAMLICO COUNTY PAGE #2 9. NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION: Applicant's property is a 232 acre tract with a double-wide mobile home located on Bennets Creek, off SR 1227, near Mesic, in Pamlico County. The land is mostly cleared, although there is a small amount of woodland and marsh. A marl and gravel path leads down to the proposed project site. The applicant's proposed project is a 6' wide x 100' long pier with 9 slips and a 10' x 50' 'T' at the waterward end. As proposed, there will be four (4) 40' x 16' slips, four (4) 30' x 14' slips, and one (1) 22' x 14' slip. The water depth at the waterward end of the pier is approximately -42' NWL. There is adequate parking along the existing roadway. 10. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS: The waters of Bennets Creek are closed to shellfishing by the Division of Marine Fisheries and Division of Health Services, designated as a Primary Nursery Area by the Division of Marine Fisheries, and classified as 'SA' by the Division of Environmental Management. An accurate work plat (including plan view and cross sectional drawings) drawn to scale in black ink on an 8 1/2 x 11 white paper. Blue-line prints or other larger plats are acceptable only if 18 high quality copies are provided by applicant.
