The Subject application has been reviewed for water quality
impacts and the following comments are offered:
a) We do not have any.objection to the proposed tanks. The
following are recommended as permit conditions.
1) That the tanks have a leak detector.
2) That any piping which is not fiberglass will need to
have cathodic protectors.
b) This activity will not require a 401 Water Quality
Certification.

Enclosed you will find a copy of the plat which shows the
minor modification to CAMA Permit No. 89-94 which depicts the
addition of fuel tanks to service the existing docks at
property located in Coinjock, North Carolina.
The proposed underground tanks will be fiberglass with ball
float valves and over fill alarms, which meets the minimum
requirements of the Petroleum Oil Institute. The two tanks
will contain gasoline in a 10,000 gallon tank of 81x27' and
diesel fuel in a 12,000 gallon tank of 8'x32'. The required
double shut-offs will be installed on these units and the
facility will be operated by a dock master.
Your concurrence that these fuel tanks and installation meet
the environmental management guidelines will allow the
Division of Coastal Management to proceed with approval under
a minor modification of CAMA. We appreciate your expeditious
response to this request.
