SITE REPORT
The applicant currently owns lot 13, section D, Roanoke Way, Old
Nags Head Cove, Dare County. The lot has eroded over 140' since its
purchase in 1971 and erosion is continuing. No wetlands are found on
the lot and the upland.sand dunes are dominated by sand spurs
(Cenchrus spp.).
In order to halt erosion and attempt to rebuild some of the land
lost in the last 18 years, applicant is proposing the construction of
a "sand fence" jetty which will extend from the upland portion of the
lot out 60' waterward of NWL. Proposed height is 6' and the water,
depth is less than 2'. A solid timber jetty is located 25' south and
extends out 40' waterward of NWL.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
Some localized, short term turbidity will result from the
construction of the jetty.
CAMA REVIEW
The proposal is consistent with the transition classification as
identified in the Dare LUP.
