SITE DESCRIPTION
The applicant, Lyn Small, is a consultant representing the
owners of the 15 lot subdivision called "Hatteras Island Club."
The subdivision is situated on an island in S1ash*Creek located
behind Channel Bass Restaurant and connected to the shore by a
62' bridge which is deteriorating.
The upland portion of the subdivision is characterized by
loblolly pines, Yaupons, and Live Oaks. The island is surrounded
by a fringe of Spartina alter niflora and Spartina patens coastal
marsh.
The applicant proposes to demolish the existing 12' X 62'
bridge and 12' bulkhead abutments and rebuild them in the same
location.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
The project will result in some increased turbidity from
jetting pilings and washing down to bulkheads. No marsh or
shallow water habitat will be filled or dredged and clearances
will remain the same.
LAMA REVIEW
The project is consistent with the transition classification
of the Dare County LUP.
