FIELD INVESTIGATION REPORT - JIM COX - CHAPEL CREEK MARINE, PAMLICO COUNTY PAGE #2 9. NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION: Applicant's property is a 10 ac. tract of land off SR 1219, on Chapel Creek, near Maribel, in Pamlico County. The property is approximately one-half highground and one-half Juncus romerianus marsh. A mobile home, storage shed, and a partially completed pier are the primary man-made features on the tract. Also, a small section of the property has been bulkheaded which was authorized by General Permit #C-3866. The applicant has constructed a 240' wooden boardwalk over the marsh and a 32' pier into the water. This construction was authorized by an exemption (#1520) by the Pamlico County Local Permit Officer. The applicant's project is to construct a 80' addition to the 32' pier for a total pier length of 1121. The applicant also proposes to place 10 rental slips each 16' x 40' at the waterward end of the pier. 10. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS: The waters of Chapel Creek are closed to shellfishing by the Division of Health Services and classified as 'SC' by the Division of Environmental Management. The applicant's proposed project will occupy approximately 7,552 sq. ft. of public trust waters. The anticipated impacts of this project appear to be minimal. PREPARED BY: W.
