PROJECT SUMMARY: Applicant proposes to bulkhead 2765' of estuarine shoreline an average of 5' and a maximum of 10' waterward of NWL within a man-made canal and Kitty Hawk Bav 25 sq. ft. ALVIS BEACHAM BIO REPORT PAGE 2 SITE REPORT The applicant currently owns the tract at the southern end of Poor Ridge Road, SR 1210. The area is a heavily used barge landing aligned along a man-made canal connected to Kitty Hawk Bay. The barge landing was constructed several years ago and is approximately 6' high. The rock and gravel landing grades rapidly into a Spartina cynosuroides_ coastal marsh to the east and the canal on the west. Scattered clumps of Spartina patens, grasses, and Baccarus halimifolia are found on the gravel landing. Some scattered clumps of Spartina patens, Juncus roemerianus and Cladium jamaicense occur along the interface between the landing and the canal. Probably less that 100 sq. ft. of coastal marsh are found along the 2765' of shoreline in fringes less than 6' wide. Applicant proposes to bulkhead 2765' of estuarine shoreline an average of 5' and a maximum of 10' waterward of NWL. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS Project will result in the filling of 100 sq. ft. of coastal marsh scattered over 2765' of shoreline and the filling of approximately 500 sq. ft. of shallow water habitat in Kitty Hawk Bay and 13,325 sq. ft. of shallow water habitat in the man-made canal.
