Site Report
The applicants own a 10 acre tract of land on the Yeopim
River down a gravel road across from the Locust Grove Church on
SR 1100 in Chowan County. The applicant owns approximately 820
feet of shoreline on Yeopim River. Under a CAMA exemption the
applicants constructed a 90' long by 6' wide pier with a 20' x
20' platform on its waterward end.
The applicants own a large wooden boat- and desire to moor
and protect this vessel at their recently constructed dock. To
this end, the applicants propose to construct a 20' wide by 40'
long boat house attached to their existing platform. Water
depths in the area of the proposed boat house vary from -2Z' to
-41. No dredging is being proposed.
Anticipated Impacts
Some localized, short-termed turbidity will result from the
construction of the boat house. Eight hundred square feet of
shallow water habitat will be shaded by the boat house. The
proposed boat house will not interfere with navigation on the
Yeopim River.
LAMA Review
No restraints are identified under the rural classification
in the 1986 Chowan County Land Use Plan.
