Dear Mr. Thomas:
I am writing to address your comments regarding temporary jurisdictional water impacts associated with the project
referenced above. The temporary impacts will be as follows:
Deep River Stream Crossing - the Deep River stream crossing will have additional, temporary impacts to jurisdictional
waters totaling 50 linear feet. These impacts are associated with the bypass channel that will be constructed to divert
stream flow around the culvert construction site. The bypass channel will tie into the natural stream channel just beyond
the rip rap energy dissipaters on either end of the culvert with a coffer dam separating the culvert construction site from the
stream. The bypass channel will be lined with woven geotextile fabric to minimize channel erosion. The dewatering
effluent from the construction, site will be pumped to a sediment basin that will release flow into the floodplain adjacent to
the stream. Upon completion of the culvert and rip rap dissipaters, the coffer dams will be removed, the bypass channel
filled and the stream bank stabilized. See the attached exhibit revised to show the bypass channel.
Minor Tributary Crossing West of the Deep River Approaching Hwy 66 - No temporary impacts are anticipated for this
location.
I trust this information adequately addresses your concerns. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact
me at (336) 723-1067.
Sincerely:
J. Neal Tucker, P.E.
