The influent pump station was permitted under the wastewater treatment facility and built before 2T rules were effective in 2006.Therefore, it is considered part of the facility and only visual and audible alarms are necessary. It should have been fenced in with the rest of the facility when it was constructed,or it should have been permitted under the sewer extension permit along with the gravity sewer. Because it is not within the fenced area of the facility, it needs to be checked 5 days a week as part of the visitation requirement of the plant and documented. Also, the control panel needs to be secured like the pump well.A pump station checklist, that can be utilized, has been provided in an email along with a copy of the sewer extension Permit WQ0023479.A reminder that the sewer extension permit is the responsibility of the Permittee and has compliance requirements. The liner for the storage pond was damaged due to some washout from Hurricane Florence. Currently the Permittee is looking for a company to repair it.The EQ basin only has a visual alarm. An audible alarm would be necessary when no one is at the plant, since the visual alarm cannot be seen by anyone outside the gate and there is no telemetry connected to the alarm. The filter backwash, from the water supply well that serves the development, is no longer directly pumped into the storage pond since the last inspection in 2016.The backwash is pumped to the influent pump station and then treated in the plant. According to the ORC,the 2000-3000 gallons of backwash that is pumped a night to the plant, does not affect the treatment process. The BORC needs to be updated for this facility as soon as possible by filling out the designation form found on our website. Please review the question section comments for further details. Three to four times a year the pond level needs to be lowered due to rain water. The ORC chlorinates the pond, tests for fecal and, if limits are met, discharges to the storage pond. The storage pond is covered in duckweed. ORC indicated that the spray heads are frequently cleaned due to the duckweed problem. Since the last inspection, new freeboard gauges were installed in both ponds. Five of the spray heads were turned off due to the proximity to monitoring wells and some ponding issues.
