Nourishment Plan

Dear Mr. Rudolph:
On October 25, 2018, the Division of Water Resources (Division) received your request via the
Division of Coastal Management to modify the approved Project # 1 of the Bogue Banks 50 -year
Master Beach Nourishment Plan due to impacts from Hurricane Florence. The 401 Certification
(WQC#004169) for the 50 -year Master Beach Nourishment Plan was issued on August 31, 2018
and included authorization for Project # 1.
The revised Project # 1, as outlined in your submitted plans: Project#1 —Post -Florence
Renourishment Project (Phase 1) Event Notification, includes 945,500 cubic yards to be placed
along 27,275 linear feet of shoreline in three reaches in Emerald Isle East and Indian Beach with
an average fill density of 35 cubic yards per foot (ranging from 25 and 45 cubic yards per foot)
and a 25' dune width and an average 50' berm width (ranging from 44 feet to 60 feet). There
were no changes proposed to the borrow area or other significant changes to the placement
area or volume.
The Division hereby approves the revised Project # 1 plan as detailed in Project#1 —Post -
Florence Renourishment Project (Phase 1) Event Notification submitted on October 25, 2018.
All requirements identified in the conditions of the 401 Water Quality Certification
(WQC#004169) are applicable to the revised Project # 1 plan and remain in place.
