Dear Mr. Smith:
NC Dept of Environmental Qua] it)
Raleigh Regional Office
RE: Fast Track Sewer Application
Botany Woods Area Sewer Extension
City of Sanford, North Carolina
Please find enclosed for your review one (1) original and one (I) copy of a Fast Track Sewer
System Extension Application package for the above referenced project. Please also find a check in
the amount of $480 to cover the application fee.
The overall project includes the installation of approximately 5,300 linear feet of 8-inch
gravity sewer line with 28 manholes and related appurtenances along the shoulders of Pine Knoll
Drive, Botany Woods Drive, Shannon Drive, and Windmill Drive (all owned and maintained by the
City of Sanford), and Wilkins Drive (SR-1328), a State maintained road. Also included is the
installation of gravity sewer on several private parcels to connect to the City's existing 30-inch
interceptor along Big Buffalo creek. Two (2) bulletin drawings have been attached to show the
proposed aerial gravity sewer crossing over Big Buffalo Creek. As a result of this crossing, the
project will be covered under Nationwide Permit 12 non -notification for 404 and 401. All
applicable permit conditions are included in the plans.
A portion of the 8" gravity sewer is within 50 feet of an identified wetland area and will be
constructed in accordance with the Division's "Draft Alternative Design Criteria for Minimum
Separation for Sewer Systems to Wetlands." The affected areas will also be noted on the project
record drawings.
