Dear Mr. Daniel:
Plans and specifications for the referenced project prepared by Duane K.
Stewart, P.E. , have been reviewed by engineers of this Section. The plans call
for the construction of a well designated as Well No. 4 with a 25 gpm 3 horsepower
motor Goulds Model No. 25EL30 submersible pump, well house, chlorination appara-
tus, soda ash chemical feeding equipment, two (2) 21-inch diameter 62-inch height
Lancaster Model No. E-7 birm filters, two (2) Lancaster Model No. CM26-180
softeners, a 3,000 gallon ASME coded hydropneumatic storage tank equipped with
automatic air-water volume controls and an air compressor, 4-inch and 2-inch
distribution piping, valves and other appurtenances to serve Heather Ridge
Subdivision with 20 lots located off Tavistock Drive and Heather Ridge Court. The
proposed 4-inch water main will tie' into the existing Heather Glen Water System's
distribution system. These plans and specifications are approved under Division.
of Environmental Health serial number 95-07685, dated June 22, 1995.
Backwash wastewater from the filters and softeners will be discharged into a
sump located 100 feet away from the well. . The Division of Environmental Manage-
ment, N.C. Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources must be
contacted to obtain a discharge permit.
Upon completion of construction of this project, the combined Heather
Glen/Heather Ridge Water System will contain four (4) wells designated as Wells
No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 with yields of 20, 16, 15 and 25 gallons per minute, chlori-na •
tion apparatus at each well, Calgon CL-50 sequestering agent chemical feeding
equipment at Well No. l, soda ash chemical feeding equipment, two (2) birm filters
and two (2) softeners at Well No. 4, four (4) 3,000 gallon hydropneumatic storage
tanks, 4-inch and 2-inch d4e*-,-4 -cation piping, valves and other appurtenances to

constructed and stamped in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical
