Dear Mr. Plock & Ms. Ferrell:
Forsyth County tax records indicate that New Way Properties, LLC, of which Ms. Ferrell is
principal, is the current legal owner of the single-family residence located at 600 Shadow Lane,
in Winston-Salem, NC. Our records show that the home, at one time in the past, had a discharging
wastewater system permitted by the NC Division of Water Resources(DWR or the Division),under
certificate of coverage NCG550003, to discharge treated wastewater to Soakas Creek, located
just south of the home.
Ron Boone, of the Division's Winston-Salem Regional Office (WSRO), went to the home on
September 19, 2018, to conduct a compliance evaluation inspection of the home's wastewater
treatment system. However, the home's current tenant had no idea about the system of which Mr.
Boone spoke, and referred him to you because he was only a renter of the home, not the owner.
You then informed Mr. Boone that the home does not have a discharging wastewater system and
that it had been connected to the city sewer several years prior. Mr. Boone then contacted the
City of Winston-Salem and confirmed that the home is in fact connected to the city sewer.
Therefore, the home's permit should be rescinded.
As such, please send a short, simple letter requesting that the permit, or certificate of coverage
(COC) NCG550003, for 600 Shadow Lane, Winston-Salem, NC, be rescinded immediately,
because the home was connected to the city's sewer system several years ago and no longer
requires the discharge permit. Please address the letter to:
