Surry-Yadkin 100 kv line project
Hi Carson,
I'd like to schedule a site visit to see the ephemeral, intermittent and maybe 1-2 perennial streams along this proposed
project. These are the days I have available: 10/23, 10/31, 11/5, 11/6, 11/8. Would any of these work for you?
In addition here are some comments/concerns with the application as submitted:
1. 1 thought we had talked about this over the phone but I don't see anything in the application about it: We need
a justification for why the permanent impacts are needed for maintenance access, not just why maintenance is
needed on a utility line, but why the corridor can't be accessed from multiple locations that would avoid all or
some of these crossings. Also, we need to know why ford type crossings aren't feasible as they would allow for
a more normal stream flow/function but still provide stable structure for irregular equipment crossing/access.
2. The plan sheets that were submitted call for 30' culverts and your PCN states 20' culverts.
3. The culvert details clearly call for riprap above and below the culvert (although I can't see where the length for
the dissipater below the culvert is specified) and these haven't been accounted for in the PCN.
4. The temporary impacts for dewatering haven't been accounted for/shown on the drawings or within the PCN
however they are clearly spelled out in the culvert details.
Thanks,
