Subject: Compliance Evaluation Inspection
Central Carolina Community College Collection System
Collection System Permit No: WQCSD0144
Lee County
Dear Mr. Measamer:
On June 20, 2018, Cheng Zhang of the Raleigh Regional (RRO) Office Division of Water Quality
conducted a Compliance Evaluation Inspection of the subject facility. The assistance and cooperation
from Mr. Ben Rankin were very helpful and appreciated. A checklist of items is enclosed with this letter.
During the inspection, the following items were noted:
1.) Central Carolina Community College holds a deemed sewer collection system permit at Central
Carolina Community College in Lee County. There have been no reportable sanitary sewage
overflow (SSO) incidents from the collection system, since the last inspection in December 2015.
rt
2.) The collection system is comprised of gravity sewer, force main, and three pump stations (will take
over two new pump stations in the near future).
3.) The facility has developed a map for the collection system. Please add pipe sizes, materials,
approximate pipe age, service taps, and pump station capacities to the current map.
4.) The Spill Response Action Plan was reviewed during the inspection and found adequate.
5.) The three existing pump stations and the two new pump stations were visited during the inspection,
the following was noted:
® -The operator used a calendar to record weekly pump station inspections, it is suggested
that a logbook be used to document pump station inspections in details;

e Pump station identifications need to be added to the stickers that were posted at
existing pump stations. It is suggested to replace the stickers with permanent signs;
• The wet well at the Main Pump Station at Kelly Dr. needs to be pad-locked.
Please respond in writing to RRO within 30 days regarding Items 3 and 5. If you have any
questions regarding the attached report or any of the findings, please contact Cheng Zhang at: (919) 791-
