Dear Mr.Pate:
The Division of Water Resources (DWR or the Division)has reviewed your application for the subject permit.
To enable our complete review, in accordance with N.C.G.S. 143-215.1 and 15A NCAC 2H.0105,please provide
additional or revised information to address the following:
1. Complete an Engineering Alternatives Analysis (EAA): The Division requires applicants to fully
document and exhaust all alternatives to surface-water discharge [G.S. § 143-215.1(b)(a) and(15A
NCAC 2H.0105 (c)(2)]. According to the included map of the location,there appears to be other
potential existing sanitary sewer lines available for connection within the immediate vicinity. (There
are several places of business right around Durham Polaris, such as CVS pharmacy, Johnson's Family
Barbecue,Walgreens,etc.)Please evaluate the feasibility of the following alternatives:
a) Connecting to any municipal or regional sewer collection system within close proximity to
the facility location.
b) Since there is likely sufficient area for a non-discharge wastewater system on the applicant's
property, assess the viability of non-discharge surface design alternatives in further detail, and
have an on-site soil evaluation performed.Please contact the Division of Water Resources Non-
Discharge Unit for more information.
If no response is received within 60 calendar days [per 15A NCAC 2H.0107(b)],the project will be deactivated
and withdrawn from our review process, and DWR will recycle the documents. If you have questions,please
