Knight County: Forsyth Dear Mr. Knight: Ron Boone, of the Winston-Salem Regional Office (WSRO) of the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR or the Division), attempted to meet with you on September 19, 2018, at your home located at 1731 Cone Road, in Winston Salem, NC, to conduct a compliance evaluation inspection (CEI) of your home's wastewater treatment system, which discharges the final treated effluent to South Fork Muddy Creek, which is located just south of your home and is currently classified as class C waters in the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. No one was home at the time of Mr. Boone's visit, but he left you a note asking you to call him, which you did on Friday, 9/28/2018. Mr. Boone discussed the system with you at length over the phone. You have the septic tanked pumped about every five years. It's just you and Mrs. Knight living there, so, this is probably sufficient. You also told Mr. Boone that you regularly add chlorine tablets to the chlorination device and have the water tested yearly as required. You also told Mr. Boone that you have not had any problems with the system. Mr. Boone suggested that you ensure your chlorine tablets are wastewater grade tablets and if not, to get some. He can provide suppliers if you find you need to acquire new tablets. Lastly, please ensure you keep all records for the system, including pumping records, maintenance and/or repair records, permitting records, etc, for the life of the system, or until you sell the home, at which point you should turn the records over to the new owner. Mr. Boone has attached the latest copy of the NC General Wastewater Discharge Permit NCG550000, which specifies your obligations and responsibilities, as owner and permittee, to properly operate and maintain the system in order to properly and sufficiently purify the home's domestic wastewater to within limits specified in the permit before it is discharged to South Fork Muddy Creek.
