SITE REPORT
Applicant currently owns the lot located at 35-C Tranquility
Lane, Holiday Island, Perquimans County. The lot is located on a,
dredged canal. Adjacent lots 34-C and 36-C are bulkheaded. 128'
of the shoreline is upland with a 11-21 drop to the water. The
upland is vegetated by loblolly pine Pinus taeda with scattered
cherry Prunus spp. and an undergrowth of poison ivy Rhus radicans
and Phragmites. Approximately 301 of the shoreline appears to be
11404" wetlands. This jurisdictional call should be made by the
U.S.'Army Corps of Engineers. The wetland area has numerous
holes and appears''to'have been severely impacted by muskrats.
The dominamt Vegetation is Spartina patens, blackberry Rubus spp.
and Phragmites australis with a dense covering of climbing
hempweed Mikania scandens.
Applicant proposes to bulkhead an average of 3' waterward of
NWL and backfill the entire area.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
This project will result in the filling of approximately 600
sq. ft. of 404 wetlands and 474 sq. ft. of shallow water habitat.
Some localized short-term turbidity will result from constructing
the bulkhead.
CAMA REVIEW
The proposal is consistent with the community classification
as identified in the Perquimans LUP.
