PROJECT SUMMARY: Applicant proposes to rip rap 130' of.shoreline at her residence in Camden Point Shores. Camden. adiacent Albemarle 5. PROCESSING PROCEDURE: APPLICATION RECEIVED 7/22/88 . OFFICE Elizabeth City JANE C. O'MALLEY BIO REPORT PAGE 2 SITE REPORT The applicant currently owns an approximate 1/2 acre lot off Edgewater Road in Camden Point Shores, Camden, adjacent to the Albemarle Sound. A two-story residential structure is currently located on the highground portion of the lot. Lawngrasses' vegetate the lot which slopes gradually to. the waters of the Albemarle Sound. Along the water's edge, cypress trees and Phragmites dominate a border 11404" wetlands area. This shoreline area is experiencing severe erosion from wave action in the Albemarle Sound. The adjacent shoreline to the southeast is rip rapped with concrete.and concrete bags. The app?icant, seeks to protect her shoreline from erosion by rip rapping her 130' of shoreline with cement and concrete, similar to that of her neighbors. This is to be placed an average of 3' waterward of MHW. No backfilling is,planned. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS The rip rapping of 130' of 11404" wetland shoreline will cause the loss of approximately 400 sq. ft. of shallow' water habitat. The rip rap will present a barrier between the "404" wetlands and the adjacent waters of the Albemarle Sound.
